Our BoardLink service connects organizations seeking board leadership with our network of alumni.
There are currently hundreds of Partnership alumni serving on Massachusetts-based corporate, civic and government boards. Of the 20 most influential organizations in Massachusetts, 17 (85%) have a Partnership leader sitting on their board.
With over 7,000 alumni, it is not surprising that headhunters, search firms, nominating committees and others come to us when looking for strong board candidates. And the work is consistent with our mission.
Improving the representation of leaders of all backgrounds on corporate, nonprofit, and governmental boards (1) helps these organizations be more effective, innovative, and sustainable; and (2) develops authentic and resilient leaders with the resources and networks to succeed in current and future roles.
Improving board representation benefits organizations by:
- Adding to the skills, expertise, perspectives, insights, and networks of the board, and providing additional resources to the respective organization’s leadership;
- Strengthening the overall performance of the board and organization by enhancing problem solving, innovation, and identifying new services and markets; and
- Strengthening connections between organizations and their local communities by having board and executive leadership from the constituencies they serve.
Improving board representation benefits individuals by:
- Providing new and additional avenues to acquire and apply leadership and professional skills;
- Expand personal and professional networks; and
- Strengthen connection between individuals and their local communities (for nonprofit and governmental boards).
In short, improving board representation increases the social capital for both individuals and organizations.
Board Placement is an extension of our executive leadership programming, our corporate culture work, and the strategic relationships we build throughout the community.
We seek to identify candidates with the (1) credentials and network to be selected for board service; (2) skills and subject matter expertise to perform at a high professional level as board members; and (3) commitment to using the role to advance greater inclusion and innovation within the organization.
Also, we provide nonprofit organizations with an effective pipeline to further develop and diversify their governance boards.
